At Grandma’s Attic, Quilt Historian Rachel Greco believes that it is important to honor these voices and traditions, and to carry them forward into the 21st Century. With this goal in mind, she opened her Oregon quilt shop in 1994. In 1997, Grandma’s Attic was launched on the web. The shop carries a large inventory of reproduction fabrics for recreating 19th Century and 1930s style quilts. Also in abundance are more contemporary fabrics, including Batiks, Asian, florals and novelties. A very large selection of Redwork and Embroidery selections is popular with those who love hand stitching.

As a Quilt Historian, Grandma Rachel is frequently asked to give lectures about history, quilt blocks, and the role of women in connection to fabric. In the shop, she helps customers seeking to learn the history behind their family quilts and needlework heirlooms. The brick and mortar shop in Dallas, Oregon is located within the very heart of the Willamette Valley in a town with deep connections to the 19th Century pioneers of the American West. Researching those roots is also a favorite past time. In addition to fabric, the shop carries books, patterns, notions and gift items. A large classroom and a quilt instructor on staff allows Grandma’s Attic to teach others quilting and needle skills.
