Pillowcase Challenge

The Fabric Shop Network is proud to announce that Fabric Shoppers Unite—Shop Independents, will sponsor the One Million Pillowcase Challenge!

This exciting yearlong national challenge—spearheaded by American Patchwork & Quilting—asks independent quilt shops and fabric stores to join forces with quilters and sewers  in 2010 to create and donate 1 million pillowcases to local charities, with the message, Make a Pillowcase, Make a Difference. Many worthy organizations and causes can benefit from pillowcases, including nursing homes, domestic violence shelters, foster children and the homeless.

Beginning November 15, 2009, APQ’s One Million Pillowcase Challenge website will be live, which you can find a shop that is participating in the Challenge. There you will also find pillowcase patterns to sew. You can also download pillowcase patterns from our site–you’ll find them in the sidebar of this site, on the right.

Pillowcase Party Hop – February 1-28, 2010

In addition, our parent organization, The Fabric Shop Network, will be hosting a Pillowcase Party in February–an online shop hop like the eight FabShop Hops hosted each year, but this one has the theme of “pillowcases.” Participating shops will have special sections of their websites featuring pillowcase kits and projects during the month of February.
