This yearlong national challenge—spearheaded by American Patchwork & Quilting and sponsored by Fabric Shoppers Unite, among others—asks independent quilt shops and fabric stores to join forces with quilters and sewers to create and donate 1 million pillowcases to local charities.

    Independents in the News: One Million Pillowcase Challenge Stitch-In in Leo, Indiana

    A Quilt of Many Colors in Leo-Cedarville, Indiana was recently featured in the Fort Wayne News-Sentinel, which detailed their support of the One Million Pillowcase Challenge and a special event they’re hosting next week.

    A Quilt of Many Colors will conduct an all-day “stitch-in” Aug. 28 at Leo United Methodist Church to create pillowcases that will be donated to the local VA Healthcare System hospital and to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis, said Brothers.

    • Dialing instructions

    onemillWe have exciting news to report from the One Million Pillowcase Challenge! There are now over 1,100 quilt shops signed up as participating shops and we’ve surpassed 55,000 pillowcases donated!

    That’s more than 61,000 yards of fabric used and over 18,000 hours spent sewing! It’s amazing news for the quilting industry and wonderful news for charities across the nation who are recipients of the pillowcases.
